The Maker’s Tote

I have long since been a fan of Anna Graham, creator of Noodlehead.

Having met her at book signings from Quilt Markets….I discovered her amazing patterns and was excited about one of her latest I spotted on Instagram…the Maker’s Tote….these being the two on the cover of her pattern!

I thought this was a perfect pattern for a new collection I had just received from Blend Fabrics by the equally talented, Ana Davis.

It’s called “Season of Love” and it depicts images from faraway lands with its beautifully drawn mosaics, elephants, whimsical flowers and paisley prints. It took me back to my travels around Southeast Asia with my best friend Corey.

I could fill pages with pictures from this amazing trip thru Malaysia, Borneo,

Vietnam and Cambodia…but alas, this is about fabric and a bag…so I move along.

Anna Graham was kind enough to send me this pattern to make for the Blend Sewing Team…so I felt I had to kick it up a notch and really do it justice given her generosity…

It was a very straightforward easy pattern to follow…and unlike most other bags I had made in the past….the lining is stunning! I’m not sure why I fight with bag linings, but this was the first one that came together perfectly! I just adore all the different pockets and the way it came together!

The only thing I changed from the pattern was adding a used leather belt I had found from a local thrift shop vs making fabric handles. I think it came out beautifully for the most part. It was my first time using rivets and leather handles and although I had a few minor complications with them, it worked out and I think she’s a very pretty bag!

I would highly recommend making this bag (large size shown). It was a joy to make; is a very versatile bag (would have been a great carry-on bag for that trip) and comes together quite quickly!

And least I forget…this beautiful collection of fabrics by Ana Davis of Blend Fabrics! I’m so excited to make a few other items from my leftovers! ๐Ÿ˜‰
